A contribution from My Dearest Friend…

This Idul Fitri Holiday me and friends have experience great holiday that i would like to share with you.

It all begins when one of my friend offer us cottages on Ciputih Beach based on her customer’s recommendation. It’s located somewhere in Ujung Kulon area (West Java) that we never heard of, the website only show one little picture and few information.

Naturally her customer became our information center. She has warned us that food supply is none, so we have to prepare our own meal from Jakarta, from the kitchen utensil to mineral water. She also praised the white sand beach and clear blue ocean, those are things that keep us excited.

After few days of discussion and preparation, two cars with ten persons started the “journey” at 6 am. Our target located about 230 km from Jakarta, with 92 km highway and the rest is country side road. There are two alternatives route, East Serang exit-Pandeglang and Cilegon Exit-Anyer Beach, we take the second alternatives and plan to make a few stop at Anyer Beach and local markets to pick up mineral waters and fresh eggs.

It only takes about one hour drive through the 92 km highway but after the Cilegon exit the speed hardly above 60 km/hour, the guys became impatient and the stomach started to take control, so at about 11 am we stop for half a hour at Lippo Carita (Anyer beach area), the beach was crowded by visitor and local merchants offering tattoo, massage, snack, shorts, much like a market. We all hope that Ciputih Beach got better beach and surrounding than Lippo Carita.

Within 3 hours and lots of patience we finally reach Ciputih Beach area with little help from local people and policemen (careful not to distracted by Pulau Umang Signboard along the sideway !!). From dusty village road, through traffic at local market points, going up and down narrow road across the hill, passing few stalls along the sideroad selling watermelon until there only few wood houses, no people, only few ducks crossing the road, and a couple of water buffalo enjoying their snack.

And ……. there it is….white – really white sand, impressive blue green water. Man.. The bumpy road was worth, That’s Infinite. The beach was form by soft, warm white sand, clear water and inviting waves. There were small group of people snorkeling at deeper water, and others joining the waves, playing sand, looking for seashell or sunbathing, but still the beach was not crowded, there are enough space and privacy for every one.

Trees along the beach creating perfect canopy for stroller and daydreamer, there is an old wood pier creating romantic scenery. It is an enchanting sight, I could not describe more, you should see it for yourself.

If you’re planning to check it out yourself, bring enough snack, mineral water, and prepare your beach gear, sunblock, swimming suit, snorkeling equipment, documentation device and most of all, put your worries behind so you can enjoy, cause phone signals are quite blocked as if you are disconnected from outer world.
But you still have civilization in your cottage such as spring bed, AC, TV and Fridge. Other facilities are swimming pool near the beach, restaurant, and of course THE BEACH..

If you travel in group it would be more convenient to book package which include meals, so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. The best time to enjoy the beach are morning around 5-10 am and afternoon 4-7 pm, at noon the sun is striking (provide great natural light for documentation), and at night the weather is windy. Have fun….
